Whitewashed Brick Hearth Candle

A 1952 hospital chapel lantern, retired in 1991, with its original glass and metalwork intact.

This diminutive masterpiece began life as a metal lantern salvaged from a 1968 railway carriage, its original function long since extinguished. Tatjana Kreiner has reimagined its worn metalwork as the façade of a miniature white fireplace, its weathered surface still bearing the scars of its former life. The artist has hand-painted the brick interior and added a delicate candle on top, its gentle glow a testament to the object's new purpose.

Miniature white fireplace with brick interior and prominent candle on top, crafted from salvaged materials.
