Hand-Painted Wooden Tray

A 1910 music box lid from a bankrupt toymaker's warehouse in Prague.

$240

The wooden tray, once a worn serving platter from a 19th-century German beer hall, has been carefully restored and now serves as the base for a charming miniature tea set. The original patina of the wood has been preserved, while the delicate lace doily, salvaged from a 1920s-era tablecloth, adds a touch of whimsy to the arrangement. A tiny, hand-painted teacup and saucer, crafted from a discarded 1950s ceramic figurine, sit atop the doily, inviting the imagination to conjure a secret world of tiny tea parties.

Wooden tray with hand-painted fabric.
