Red Table with Feast

A 1952 schoolhouse chalkboard rescued from a rural Alabama demolition site.

The materials that comprise this whimsical miniature scene were once part of a 1962 railway carriage's dining car, where travelers would gather to share meals and stories. Tatjana Kreiner has salvaged the richly grained wood and reimagined it as a cozy red table, upon which she has hand-painted a tranquil forest scene, complete with a towering tree, a steaming bowl of food, and an assortment of cookies. The weathered patina of the original wood has been preserved, lending an air of authenticity to this charming miniature tableau.

Hand-painted wooden miniature diorama featuring a weathered red table with a tree in a Victorian-style parlor scene.
